Gentle Annie Wines

Tony Cotter, Managing Director
Melbourne businessman Tony Cotter is the Managing Director of Gentle Annie Wines and Managing Partner of Gentle Annie Vineyard.  Tony started the vineyard in 1996 with long time friend and Dookie local, Peter McManus.  Tony’s inspiration for starting Gentle Annie arose from time spent with relatives on their vineyard in St. Germain d'Esteuil, Médoc, France.  Tony and Peter discovered that the unique and limited (11km x 8km) Dookie terroir was perfectly suited to growing exceptional grapes for winemaking.

Gentle Annie Vineyard

Scott Feldtmann, Viticulturist and Vineyard Manager
Gentle Annie’s viticulturist Scott Feldtmann has a long association with viticulture in the Dookie region.  His ancestors along with the Ryans (Gentle Annie’s family) were the first settlers in the area.  Scott has pioneered low input, minimal irrigation on the red soils, resulting in low yielding vines producing tiny berries with exquisite colour and fruit flavour. Scott deliberately maintains low yields, around 5 tonnes per hectare. This approach guarantees ultra-premium fruit at harvest.  Gentle Annie’s fruit has won the coveted Brown Brother’s Grower of the Year award twice, the Best Shiraz four times and Best Cabernet three times.
Peter McManus, Vineyard Operations Manager
Peter McManus is a Gentle Annie Vineyard partner and the Vineyard Operations Manager.  Peter has lived in Dookie for thirty years and is a well known and highly regarded member of the local community.  Peter and Tony Cotter are long time friends and started Gentle Annie Vineyard together.  As well as managing the resources and operations at Gentle Annie Vineyard, Peter looks after wine sales in Dookie, Shepparton, Benalla, Wangaratta and surrounding local areas.
John Geddes

John has been working for Gentle Annie Vineyard since 2001 and has completed his Vocational Education Training in Viticulture.  John assists Scott in the vineyard to produce the highest quality wine grapes possible.
